Painted in Spring of 2017, this painting captures a view through Central Park of 220 Central Park South by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) as it approached its completion. These architects are responsible for a number of modern high rises surrounding the park that are more traditional in their facades than the glass towers that are currently the trend. The construction site adjacent to the tower in this painting has since grown into the 1550 foot Central Park Tower, making the 950 foot high 220 Central Park South appear diminutive by comparison.
Aside from the view of the tower under construction which I was after, I also picked this location for the patch of yellow lilies and winding steps. Through the tree on the right, you may be able to make out the famous Balto Statue. It is a dynamic spot in the park with a lot of foot traffic.
